A message from our section president

Murial D. Jones

President, NCNW Champaign County Section

Greetings,

Welcome to Champaign County Section of the National Council of Negro Women’s website. Thank you for your interest in our Section. Chartered in 1982, the Champaign County Section has a rich history of service to the community, with an emphasis on highlighting women and children. As the thirteenth president of the local Section, it is my honor to continue the legacy.

In the forty-four years of supporting the local communities, the Champaign County Section has hosted a combination of programs that recognize women and youth, who provide financial donations or physical labor to area organizations and that share educational information. Engagement in social justice and “Getting Out the Vote” efforts have also been in our arsenal of programs and activities. Collaboration with other civic organizations, to include local Divine 9 chapters, has been an active goal of the Section. The National Council of Negro Women, as an umbrella organization, stands on a rich history of networking and collaborating to work together with other organization with a “Unity of Purpose and a Unity of Action.” The Champaign County Section proudly supports that mission.

In sisterhood and service,

Murial D. Jones
President
